Emmanuel Tamrat

Partner, Digital + Sales

Emmanuel is a digital strategist with a specialization in SEO. He’s worked for tech startups and e-commerce businesses including SSENSE, where his search strategies grew sales for luxury(LVMH/Kering) and streetwear brands like Off-white, F.O.G Essentials, Marine Serre, Loewe, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and others.

Emmanuel started his career in operations with Macquarie bank. While at Macquarie by day, he continued spending evenings and weekends dj-ing clubs and running an online sneaker business. While dj-ing in the US, he became a fan of a new tequila brand called Patron. Having seen little support in Canada, he eventually met with executives at the company convincing them to back nightlife events in Toronto as part of their Canadian expansion. Working with local promoters, he sponsored events with artists like Pharohe Monch, K’naan, Clipse, and a then unknown rapper named Drake.

Given Drake’s affinity for Patron, he was able to negotiate a deal to coincide with the release of Drake’s debut video and single “Replacement girl”. Behind the scenes content from the deal generated millions of media impressions appearing on some of the biggest music websites around the world.

Eventually he was brought in to develop merch for Brotips, one of the fastest growing online properties at the time. He assisted with design and logistics and connected the team to large Canadian wholesalers to scale their merch program. He eventually provided copywriting and sales support for everything from a Harper Collins book proposal to an investment deck that secured seed funding from Mark Cuban.

While helping Brotips raise their Series A round, he pitched to investors Black Ocean Group who were in the process of acquiring Elite Daily. Those meetings led to co-founding Pocketsqr media where he lead digital strategy, later selling to Black Ocean Group.

Emmanuel holds a Bachelors from Laurentian and a Masters from the Smith School of business at Queen’s University.
